Meet RESONATE, one of GreenME’s Sister Project on Nature-Based Therapies

GreenME is moving ahead in exploring the health benefits of urban green spaces, and it’s not doing it alone!

RESONATE, our sister project – funded under the same Horizon Europe call – is equally committed to making the healing power of nature a central part of our lives.

Led by the University of Vienna, RESONATE brings together a dynamic mix of researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and innovators from around the world.

Its goal? To build a stronger case for Nature-based Therapies (NbT) and promote their use as accessible, cost-effective tools for improving mental, physical, and social well-being.

At its heart, the concept of nature-based psychosocial resilience, a framework that explains why nature helps reduce stress, promote health and prevent disease. The project distinguishes between Nature-based Solutions and Nature-based Therapies, creating space for both to flourish. If you’re curious to explore the theory, check out their conceptual paper

Started in June 2023 and running until May 2027, RESONATE is powered by a diverse consortium of 14 partner organisations and is already making strides through nine case studies taking place across Europe. Each offers insight into how Nature Based Therapies are applied in different landscapes and for different communities. From care farms in the Netherlands to urban parks in Padua (Italy) and seaside settings in Barcelona (Spain), the project is capturing a wide array of therapeutic practices and their impacts.
