How can Nature-Based Therapies become a widely accepted and accessible part of national health systems?
Work Package 5 – Co-creation of policy and practice solution has the answer!

Led by ILS – Institut für Landes- und Stadtentwicklungsforschung, WP5 is focused on building a strong Green Care Community across all consortium countries (Spain, Italy, Sweden, Poland, UK, US, Germany). The goal is to co-create national strategies, scale up Nature-Based Therapies (NbTs), and develop a pilot training programme for future providers.
A series of 6 stakeholder workshops (WS) per country, has been designed to support co-creation, encourage knowledge exchange, and guide strategy development. These include 4 national workshops and 2 international exchange workshops, blending virtual and in-person formats to maximise flexibility and impact.
Laying the groundwork: get-together workshops
Between November 2024 and January 2025, national chapters hosted get-together workshops. These initial meetings helped stakeholders connect, share expectations, and prepare for what’s next.
From vision to strategy: kick-off workshops
Held between February and March 2025, the kick-off workshops were where the real strategic work began. Participants explored the key preconditions needed to reach their country’s specific green care goals, while identifying barriers, resources, and challenges along the way.
These workshops were also guided by national objectives, developed by each chapter based on findings from WP2- Assessment of the current status of green care. These objectives reflect each country’s status on green care.
What’s next?
Currently, the team at ILS is developing the methodology for the mid-term workshops, which will build directly on insights from the kick-off phase. In parallel, preparations are underway for the international exchange workshops, which will provide a platform for cross-country learning and innovation.
